Rock River Patriots Meeting Friday January 9th – CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER

I regret to inform all of you planning to attend the Rock River Patriots Meeting tomorrow night, January 9th, 2015, that the meeting has been cancelled due to the weather.  We received notice that many people were not going to be able to attend because of the bad weather.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.   We hope to see you all in February at our next meeting!

Thank You and Merry Christmas!

On behalf of the Rock River Patriots, I want to thank you for all you have done this past year. As we look ahead to the upcoming year, we see there is much to be done. It is an opportunity to truly change Wisconsin for the better. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact and return our state to something great.

However, with all that needs to be done, it is easy to forget why Christmas is so important in the first place. We continually hear the cliche that “the true meaning of Christmas is about giving.” Yes, it is the season to be giving, but there is more to the story. The true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of God’s gift to mankind. God sent his son, Jesus Christ to provide a means of salvation to a fallen people. Only by accepting God’s free gift of Jesus Christ, can we truly be free. I encourage you all to take the time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and thank God for his gift this Christmas season.

Finally, the deadline for submitting papers / signatures to be a candidate in the upcoming spring election is upon us. The 6th of January 2015 is the declaration deadline for school board and other municipal races. These are important races out of which future conservative leaders of the state can emerge. One of the most important local races is your school board. Not only does your local school district account for close to half of the property tax bill you see each year, but it also oversees what your kids will learn. Through control of the educational system, the Marxists, Socialists, and Globalists have indoctrinated many young minds. It is time we take it back!

There is a lot to do, and we look forward to an exciting 2015. Our next meeting will be Friday January 9th at 6:00pm in Fort Atkinson at the Dwight Foster Library

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The Rock River Patriots want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  Even thought our country is headed in the wrong direction, we have much to be thankful for.  Please take a little time out of your busy schedule today and give thanks to God for all His blessings and pray for this nation.

Below is the text of the first Thanksgiving proclamation by George Washington during his first year as President.  It sets aside Thursday, November 26 as “A Day of Public Thanksgiving and Prayer.”

Signed by Washington on October 3, 1789 and entitled “General Thanksgiving,” the decree appointed the day “to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God.”

While there were Thanksgiving observances in America both before and after Washington’s proclamation, this represents the first to be so designated by the new national government.

General Thanksgiving

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLIC THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;– for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;– for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;– and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;– to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

Common Core Hearing A Sham!

Steve Kauffeld is a member of the Watertown School Board and a member of the Rock River Patriots.

March 8, 2014
Letter to the Editor,
On Thur Feb 6 th , the people’s voice was stymied, by an orchestrated public hearing lead by Sen.Luther Olsen who is chairman of the Senate Education Committee. The hearing was on Senate Bill 619 co-sponsored by Senator Leah Vukmir and Senator Paul Farrow.
I try to attend various legislative hearings in Madison and other locations around the state, particularly those I have a vested interest in. Being a school board member, I have had considerable interest in the implementation of Common Core standards in our state’s public schools.
I don’t know what is more galling to me, the political gamesmanship proffered  by Sen Luther Olsen with his AP interview two hours before the hearing was held, stating that this Bill was dead, the preferential treatment given the DPI, CESA administrators, our district school superintendent and their staff and supportive teachers, or the subsequent AP article published in the Watertown Times Fri.   March 7th, page 7, first section. I could write an entire article on the bias shown and misrepresentations printed in that article. This article would have you believe there was no public interest or input at this hearing. However, many people from across the State were in attendance. I would testify there were easily as many or more private citizens in attendance and supportive of SB619. Also the lions share of testimony by the private citizens was not allowed to be heard until four hours after the hearing began. If you have any interest, and you should, check out Wis. Eye on the internet. All hearings are recorded.
I would also have you note the accompanying photo {Watertown Daily Times}   shows our edu-crates standing in solidarity behind their chosen speakers {talk about using the bully pulpit}. Just a point of interest, it is supposed to be against legislative hearing decorum to show any physical, verbal or non-verbal, assent or dissent during testimony. All non-testifying persons are to be appropriately seated. But this was not a normal hearing. When you attend, there is normally white printed papers you can use to register either to speak or write a note whether you support the proposed bill or oppose. Not at this hearing. It was stated that you must use either the new pink or blue sheets to register. Any white sheets would not be recognized. This left hundreds of white registration sheets filled out by citizens who were unable to attend because of difficulty of distance, time or commitment with no voice in the process. Fortunately I heard co-sponsor Sen. Paul Farrow directed that   all the white registration forms were to be collected and he would see to it they were read and counted.
It was also stated by Rep. Steve Nass’s legislative staffer that in his twenty years of working in the Capitol, he has never witnessed the overt disregard for a fellow party member whether they were Democrat or Republican.
This to me explains the most egregious act of all by Sen Luther Olsen. The fact is, he has considerable conflict of interest even being a member of the education committee, let alone the chair person. You see, his wife is a CESA 6 administrator and his family profits handsomely from this position, let alone the political ramifications. Luther Olsen, at the very least should have recused himself as Committee Chair person during this whole process. His actions on March 6, indicate to me that he does not deserve to be a State Senator.
Finally, SB619 and it’s companion bill 617 in the House actually does have broad support. Why shouldn’t it? SB619 repeals nothing but offers the ability of private citizens of this state to have a voice in the curriculum and standards taught to our children. They are not the property of the community/state. Do you agree, that our professional bureaucrats and supposed experts don’t always get it right? Would you not also agree that we the citizen taxpayers should have a voice? We are not chattel to be marginalized. I would suggest any and all state Senators should be contacted and encouraged to pass SB619.

Rock River Patriots Meeting

The Rock River Patriots will be having a meeting on Friday July 27th at 6pm.  ***NOTE: The location of this meeting has changed from our normal location in Fort Atkinson.  UPDATE: This meeting will be held at the Lake Mills EMS Building, 603 East Lake Street, Lake Mills WI 53551.  This is a change for this meeting only, and we will resume our meetings in Fort Atkinson in the future.

At this meeting we welcome US Senate Candidate Eric Hovde to talk about his campaign and answer some questions about his stances on a variety of issues.  This should be an informative meeting!

UN Small Arms Treaty Negotiations Underway – This is TREASON!

Below is info from the NRA regarding the attempt at stealing away your 2nd Amendment Rights by Team Obama.  Since OPERATION FAST AND FURIOUS did not work, this UN Small Arms Treaty is another attempt at making you a slave.

Here is an NRA link to 5 videos that you need to see about this issue: U.N. ARMS TRADE TREATY

Below is clipped from last Fridays update, (link above),  from the NRA on the first week of the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty discussions currently underway that is supported by Team BHO…NRA provides a hot link in last sentence to a “Write Your Representatives” tool.

…”As we reported last week, for nearly 20 years, the NRA has fought tirelessly to oppose any United Nations effort to undermine the constitutional rights of law-abiding American gun owners.  That fight has grown more intense lately, as the U.N. and global gun banners have markedly stepped up their attack on our Second Amendment freedoms by including civilian arms in the proposed Arms Trade Treaty.

As called for in a resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2009, a conference began this week in New York City to draft the treaty’s language.  The United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty is one of the most serious threats to American gun owners in decades.

The NRA will continue to maintain a strong presence at the ATT meeting, which will run through July 27.  And we will continue to champion the position that any ATT must in no way impact gun owners’ rights.

As we await the conclusion of the meeting, please be sure to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to strongly oppose any U.N. treaty that in any way diminishes our constitutional rights.

You can find contact information for your U.S. Senators by using the “Write Your Representatives” tool at  You may also contact your Senators by phone at (202) 224-3121”…

Republicans Win All But One Recall Race…Reports of Voting Irregularities In Racine

In all but one recall race in Wisconsin, the Republicans achieved a decisive victory.  The races that were supposed to be very close, were called very early in the night for Gov. Walker, Lt. Gov. Kleefisch, Sen. Fitzgerald, Sen. Moulton, and newly elected Jerry Petrowski.  The Racine race is too close to call with Democrat challenger having a lead of approximately 800 votes over Sen. Van Wanggaard with reports of widespread voting irregularities.

The reports of voting irregularities are now coming in, including a Detroit Unions busing in Michigan union members  to vote in the WI recall election.  Below are two such stories.

9/11 Commission – A Whitewash?

Daily Jefferson County Union Letter To The Editor

Below is a letter to the editor of the Daily Jefferson County Union that was printed a few weeks ago.  It articulates some fundamental points that are important to know.  Enjoy!

This letter is a response to Dave Tuten’s letter to the editor on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. At the risk of giving Mr. Tuten’s letter any credibility at all, I will respond.

First let me address the tone of the letter. There is no need for any personal attacks against Ms. Bakken or anyone in the Tea Party/Patriot Movement. Mr. Tuten’s letter is hate filled and mean-spirited. It is unfortunate that Mr. Tuten cannot debate without engaging in low-level attacks. Having said that, I would like to address several issues in Mr. Tuten’s letters.

Let’s talk about the smoking ban. The issue many people in the Tea Party/Patriot Movement have with this ban is that it is a violation of private property rights. It’s the right of an entrepreneur to decide on his or her premises what is best for their business environment. Whether people smoke in a bar or any other place should be up to the owner of the business. The consumer has a right to make a decision to go into a bar that allows smoking or go to a bar down the street that forbids smoking. The market will dictate which of these owners will be successful. If more people like to go to a smoke free environment, the bar/tavern owner that allows smoking will lose enough business to close or make the change on their own. The ultimate fact remains: it is supposed to be up to the business owner not the government to make those decisions.

Mr. Tuten also says “Taking Mrs.Bakken’s logic a step further it would appear that she would support legalized drugs because the government does not have the right to dictate health for anyone.” The Libertarian argument (which I take no position on for or against) states just that. We, as adults, should be able to make our own decisions as to what we ingest into our bodies so long as we don’t harm anyone else. One of the examples used to support their argument is Alcohol Prohibition in the 1920’s. They argue Prohibition created organized crime and gangsters like Al Capone who got involved in bootlegging to make money. The Libertarians argue illegal drugs have contributed the growth of the drug cartels and drug gangs. They argue users would much rather go to a local pharmacy to get their drugs, than to go to a drug house or dealer risking life and limb to get their “fix”. John Stossel and Judge Andrew Napolitano have done extensive programs on this subject, which can be viewed on online at Again, I take no position for or against the Libertarian argument regarding drug legalization, but want the argument to be stated clearly.

The Tea Party/Patriot groups seek a return to Constitutional principles. Many of the Democrats and Republicans have been taking us down the same road, just walking on different sides of it. The true responsibility of the Federal Government is to be an agent of the sovereign States, not the States as agents of the Federal Government. In Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution, the powers of Congress are enumerated. There are 18 items listed which the federal government is allowed to spend money on. Anything outside the 18 enumerated powers, according to the 10th Amendment is reserved for the States and/or the people respectively. Furthermore, we have the Bill of Rights that guarantees our freedoms such as free speech, gun rights, private property rights, right to due process, etc. However, we have progressives and leftists moving us toward the entitlement/welfare state, and while many people on the right and so-called “conservatives” are bringing us closer to a police state with unconstitutional legislation such as the Patriot Act. Both parties have been taking us down an unsustainable road with out of control spending and debt. Much of the growth of the Federal Government is unconstitutional. That is why understanding of the Constitution is so important.

Let’s move on to some of the other issues. TARP is nothing more than a bail out for Wall Street and offshore banks. Why is it the job for the American people to bailout any private businesses? Success or failure should be dictated by the hard work, ingenuity, and innovativeness of the American company itself. The same is true for stimulus spending. Anyone in their own personal life, going through financial hardship including job loss, bankruptcy, etc. would not, without some diminished mental capacity, try to spend their way out of their economic circumstance. However, the government seems to think doing the exact same thing and calling it stimulus will somehow get us out of this economic downturn. This is taking us further down an unsustainable road that is leading to a devaluation of the dollar and eventually hyperinflation. Many economists warn we are facing a double dip recession. The only reason we are seeing a short-term bump up in the economy is because it takes a little while for the market to catch up with the infusion of all the newly printed money into the system.

On Cap and Trade…ClimateGate is important because it proves something that the average person already knows. There is no such thing as man-made climate change. The leaked emails pointed to data manipulation. When other scientists wanted to review the data that was used to support global climate change, the data magically disappeared. Unfortunately, the recent investigation into this fraud was commissioned and paid for by East Anglia University, the very school where the fraud occurred. Is it any wonder that they concluded there was “no misconduct?” Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant. From elementary school science we learned that we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Using the climate changed alarmists logic, the act of breathing is then an act of pollution. I think you can see the absurdity of this argument. Everyone wants a clean environment but regulating carbon dioxide is definitely not the answer. Should we also regulate dihydrogen monoxide? It sounds like something bad, so we must regulate it right? If you know your basic chemistry, dihydrogen monoxide is water (H20). Many of the scientists who are climate change alarmists are not even climatologists. They are only involved for their own benefit or political agenda. The truth is global warming and cooling has been correlated to solar activity. This is based on the research of Dr. Willie Soon from the Harvard Center for Astrophysics who has been studying the climate for 20 years. Visit our website to see a video explanation.

Moving on…Mr. Tuten also asks rhetorically regarding the election of Obama, “How did these radicals get in such a powerful position? Were they not elected by a majority of the presumably regular people?” The answer is simple. The second term of the Bush administration was almost a complete disaster. The Republicans nominated a progressive stooge named John McCain. His flaws were and still are tremendous. He should never have been nominated, notwithstanding his sacrifices while in military service to this country. On the other hand, the Obama campaign, with the mainstream media in the bag, offered this “Hope and Change” and people bought it. McCain seemed like more of the same.

However, with the policies that have been enacted and the Marxists Obama has surrounded himself with, many people are waking up. Obama has continued the wars, extended the Patriot Act indefinitely, and continues to take-over more and more control of the U.S. private sector. For too long, the elitists in both parties have been taking the people for granted. We seek a return to Constitutional Principles and a return to State Sovereignty. That is why I believe the Tea Party/ Patriot Movement exists.

Furthermore, we live in a Constitutional Republic not a Democracy. There is a very important difference. In a Democracy, there is simple majority rule that can be at the expense of the minority. In a Constitutional Republic, this is not so. The rights of the minority are protected by the Constitution, no matter what popular opinion is. There is a mechanism to change the Constitution by Amendment or Constitutional Convention. However, this is a highly difficult process and should be so. All of this was done to protect the inalienable God-given rights we all possess.

Finally, Mr. Tuten says: “tea parties talk about “true patriots” and then talk about 2nd Amendment solutions.” This is an important issue to address. The Tea Party and Patriot groups do not seek or condone violence as a solution as Mr. Tuten would have you believe. However, the true meaning of the 2nd amendments was to protect the people from government tyranny. The 2nd Amendment states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Do you see the words, “being necessary to the security of a free state?” The Founding Fathers recognized without the ability of people to defend themselves and their families, men truly could not be free.

Thomas Jefferson said, “when the people fear the government there is tyranny; when the government fears the people there is liberty.”

From Mark Belling – “Why Are We Vetting Anyone?”

In response to Mark Belling’s comments on his show yesterday about the Rock River Patriots, Nathan Friedl from our group, also responded.  Mark’s response is very intriguing:  “Why is your group vetting anyone?”  Nathan Friedl responded.  Below is the email exchange.

Subject: Rock River Patriots

Mark, my name is Nathan friedl with the Rock River Patriots in Jefferson County WI.

I personally have not heard you mention us on your program but a number of people have told us you have made reference to us including on your show this afternoon (Wednesday July 14).

Forgive me if my information is not correct but we were told you stated our group was one of those Tea Party groups who are endorsing candidates.

That is absolutely false. We have never and have no intention of ever endorsing anyone. We have a vetting process for candidates and ask the same or very similar questions to each one.

Obviously, you can make any statements you like on your program, it’s your program. Having said that, please make certain your facts are accurate if you chose to talk about our group.

Please feel free to visit our web site or you, or one of your staff, contact us if you would like to know where we stand on an issue before you state where we stand on an issue.

Why is your group “vetting” anyone?

The same reason any one of the over 70 Tea Party groups across the State are doing the same thing!

Is this a new revelation for you? Many groups across the State have been doing this for more than six months Mark.

Many of the candidates are running for local office, some for State, and some Federal.

Each group asks questions important to the group to give each group a better understanding of what the candidate believes. We do not care who the Democrats or Republicans endorse. We would like to understand where they stand on Constitutional issues.

Are you suggesting the Tea Party groups should not invite candidates to come and answer questions related to the issues important to each group?

Not one group in the coalition presumes to speak for the others, including the Rock River Patriots. Never once have we even suggested such a thing. EVER!

We would appreciate you correcting the record about our group.

We DO NOT speak for the other groups. The Coalition does that. I don’t remember seeing you at the Coalition meeting in June when we decided these things.

You stated we are passing judgment. On what or whom Mark? Please provide one specific example of that. At least before you pass false information to your audience about us.

You stated we are NOT the real Tea Party movement. Why do you assume the right to pass that judgment without even so much as speaking with us?

Not the real Tea Party movement? Please provide the Coalition with your approved list of Tea Party group members so we know who to tell who can start their own grass roots group and who can’t and which of the over 70 groups are legitimate in your eyes and which are not.

Mark, does this have to do with Ron Johnson’s question and answer (vetting) session with us?

If not, why have you all of a sudden begun to mention our group after that event? Why not anytime in the last year when we had two other candidates for US Senate come in, not to mention many local candidates?

Did you watch his session with us? If so I believe you will see we were courteous and respectful. I must admit, we were shocked at his complete lack of knowledge regarding the constitution.

That may not matter to the Republican Party but it matters to our group.

We are not looking for publicity. In fact, we would be very happy if you were to correct the record about our group on air and never mention us again.

If you would like to know where the Tea Party stands in Wisconsin please contact the Coalition and stop singling out one of their member groups. (You will in fact find that not all the groups agree on every issue).

Once again to your question. Is it your position that the Tea Party groups should stop inviting candidates to their meetings to ask questions and find out where they stand on issues important to the groups?

Maybe we should just trust our futures and our children’s futures to what either of the two parties and or talk show hosts tell us and not take responsibility for getting involved in a real way.

I have heard you often promote the idea of an informed electorate, of people taking responsibility for themselves, of becoming more than sound bite voters. Have you changed your position regarding those things?

I have listened to your program, when time allows, for many years and would be shocked if you had a problem with that. Unless your loyalty is to a specific party rather than the principled positions important to the many groups throughout the State then I can not understand your personal interest in mentioning our group specifically on your program and stating things that have zero basis in fact about us.
