There will be NO Rock River Patriots meeting on April 14th.  Our normal meeting date lands on Good Friday.  Since many of our members will be attending church services, we felt the best option is to cancel the meeting.

Believe it or not, spring election day is upon us. Today April 4th, 2017 has an important WI statewide race for school superintendent between liberal incumbent Tony Evers and challenger Lowell Holtz. Evers supports Common Core while Holtz opposes it. If you support FEDERAL control of education, then Evers is your man. If you support LOCAL control of education (the way it should be), then Holtz is the candidate you should support. It’s a classic case of liberal establishment verses reformer. We know how you should vote. Other races are on the ballot. If you live in a school district that is having a spending referendum, we would simply encourage you to vote “NO”. School Districts, like all of us, need to live within their means and budgets. All too often school districts are bloated at the top with overpaid administrators. The money is not going into the classroom. Carefully examine candidates at the local level. If you are not sure where they stand, find out. Fort Atkinson common council has one candidate who claimed recently that the community is so safe that the police do not need to carry guns! That is what’s out there folks! Be careful!

The Rock River Patriots will be having a meeting this Friday in Fort Atkinson at 6:00pm in the community room of the Dwight Foster Library.  The Dwight Foster Library is located at 203 Merchants Avenue. Rep Amy Loudenbeck (R – Clinton), Rep Cindi Duchow (R -Town of Delafield)  and Sen Alberta Darling (R – River Hills) are circulating a bill that does NOTHING to advance the BabyBodyParts issue. First, it mirrors the federal bill. That already says that you can’t sell BabyBodyParts. Worse, the bill does nothing to stop the intrastate trafficking and continues to allow the research to continue. So by being silent on this issue, it actually sanctions the very activity we seek to stop.   I would encourage you to do your homework but this bill is nothing more than a showpiece. This bill should have never been drafted and it certainly isn’t prolife or conservative. Why would conservatives enable the abortion industry to continue their work then fail to provide legal restrictions for the trafficking and harvest of BabyBodyParts?   For those of you that may want to call or email, below is their contact information. At this meeting, we will discuss current events and initiatives.  State Senator Steve Nass will be our guest speaker and provide an update on all that is happening in Madison, now that the session is underway . Every American who reads newspapers or watches television knows the Michael Brown drama. During the same year 126 police officers in the United States were killed.  Can you name one? Michigan road funding: Why don’t we just turn highways into toll roads? Questions about the toll roads: 1. The proposed toll between the Stateline to Milwaukee on I-94 is a federal interstate. The federal government just spent millions to redo much of that stretch. Under current federal law, most or all of that aid would have to be paid back to the feds. How is this being paid for? Long term debt? Has this been factored into the toll solution?2. Future federal aid will no longer be available for projects related to that stretch. Generally, only 10% is funded by the state.
