Letter To The Editor On Gun Control From One Of Our Members

Letter to the Editor,

The main stream media, internet and talk radio is a buzz with the new “proposal” of “our government” to violate our 2nd Amendment God given rights. Australia, is living proof of what happens when guns are forcibly removed from private ownership. Since the institution of their 1996 gun laws, armed robberies are  up 69%; assaults with guns up 28%; gun murders up 19% and home invasions up 21%. Hmm…how can gun murders be up when guns are illegal to own????

According to Reality Check , Gun statistics are: The US has the highest gun ownership in the world, average of 88 guns per 100 residents. This places us first in the world for gun ownership and  #28 in gun homicide. What about crime statistics in Great Britain? Britain is also the most violent country in the EU, that is 2034 violent crimes per 100,000  The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU. UK has the fifth highest robbery rate and the fourth highest burglary rate. Compare that to the US with 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

There is an interesting video revealing the statistics from the FBI which is an unbiased government agency that does not advocate government policy. It reports: 1992 violent crime of 757 per 100,000 people. In 2011 it was reduced to 386/100,000 { 50% reduction}. 1992 murder rate 9.3 per 100,000; 2011  4.7/100,000  {54% reduction}. Home Office an unbiased organization for England/Wales reports Violent Crime to be 3.5 times higher than US. {See http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/important-gun-violence-video-to-share-with-friends} for this video and www.fbi.gov and www.homeoffice.gov.UK for statistical information on crime.

All said, it’s the criminals who now are empowered and emboldened in these countries because the innocent can no longer defend themselves.

The tragedy of Connecticut, no one would deny. The questions remain:  “Why no concern for the lost lives in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other sovereign countries targeted by our government and it’s endorsed drone shootings and the collateral damage and deaths including many children? What about the 3500 innocent babies a day violently killed via abortion? Not a tear shed, BUT promoted!  Many understand the reply to these “puzzling” questions, “It is NOT about gun control. It is about control of the people” and it’s progressive! Be warned citizens. Our forefathers understood this. They realized guns were not so much to protect them from the citizenry;  but an armed citizen militia keeps government tyranny at bay.

Who would deny that government controls are increasingly invading our lives. Have these changes of increased legislation, taxes, fees and regulations improved our country? Are we anticipating that the increased deductions from all our  paychecks will mean improved living conditions for us? Has the war on drugs meant society no longer has a drug problem? It seems to be pretty well accepted that the more government “does for us” the worst shape we as Americans are in. Should we now expect, even though the government track record is dismal at best, that we should just turn over our God given liberties and trust this government monstrosity that gun removal is for our safety! Why is it that our government officials have armed body guards,  but the citizenry should have none? President Obama just put into law, armed protection for himself and former presidents for life; not to mention armed body guards at the school which his children attend which is the case for many VIP’s throughout our country.

The question may also be asked, “What has changed in America today?” Our disregard for our Lord Jesus Christ and His commandments. Removing Him as Creator God from our schools, changing His laws for marriage and killing the unborn. The Bible also references the fact that a nation can expect more judgment based on our sins, our rejection of God, our election of  ungodly leaders. Have we reached the point of Romans 1 where God abandons a nation? Should we be concerned?  Natural disasters of course will be attributed to “Global Warming/Climate Change”. I believe it is as the Bible says, our minds are debased, and nature will groan as a result of the sin of a nation. I have a hard time asking God to bless America. America needs to repent of our sins, seek His forgiveness, live and educate our children in the ways of the Bible. Then perhaps in God’s mercy, He may bless our land.

  1. Psalm 100:4 “Enter the Temple gates with thanksgiving; go into it’s courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise Him.

I live in Watertown, and unfortunely I had to miss the last two meetings. Is there anyway I could get tge newest DVD’s from you? My e-mail name is susanhubert1@hotmail.comDate: Thu, 17 Jan 2013 19:39:24 +0000 To: susanhubert1@hotmail.com

  2. I thought about this the other day and recorded it in my mind! There is not ONE mass shooting that has taken place in recent years, other than Gabby Gifford, that was not done in a “Gun-Free” zone! On each occurance, the person shooting stopped ONLY when the “good guys” with guns showed up! Three of them ended their shooting by shooting themself!

There is NO BETTER PROTECTION to the innocent than to have GOOD PEOPLE armed with guns to remove the BAD PEOPLE that mis-use them! And what is our Govt trying to convince IGNORANT Americans to believe????

That GOOD PEOPLE should NOT HAVE GUNS!!!! 🙁

  3. Linda I see you like to quote the Bible. How do you feel about adultery? Mark 10:10 In the words of Jesus Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery. Do you listen and like the words of some famous adulterers like Rush, Beck or Ron Reagan? Tell me you don’t hold the words of these fornicators in high esteem. Please do not cherry pick the words of the Bible to fit your agenda.

    1. I recall a story a story in the Bible where a woman was brought before Jesus for adultery. Once she was given forgiveness He said, “Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more.”

I am not certain how the question asked in a public forum is appropriate. Doesn’t it say that if there is an issue between you and a brother go and speak with him first?

    2. Please we are in America where we separate church and state. Bibles are for church, the constitution for government.

      1. Have you heard of the Aitkin Bible? The founders who wrote the constitution took those ideas from a number of places, very prominently, from the Bible.
That is left out of our public schools today so many are ignorant of that history.
