Happy Resurrection Day!

The meaning of Easter – What does it mean to you? The meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ’s victory over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His three-year ministry. If He had not risen from the dead, if He had merely died and not been resurrected, He would have been considered just another teacher or Rabbi. However, His resurrection changed all that and gave final and irrefutable proof that He was really the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all. However, Easter did not always symbolize Christ’s resurrection from the dead and the meaning of Easter was quite different than what Christians celebrate today. The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early spring, it honored the pagan Saxon goddess Eastre. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday, since it fell around the same time as the traditional memorial of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, was merged with the pagan celebration, and became know…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We want to take this time to wish you a very Merry Christmas.  Many people like to think about all the gifts and celebrations that happen on this holiday. It is very easy to let yourself get lost in all of the festivities. It is very easy to forget what this time is really all about. Christmas, however, does not have to do with the gifts that you did or did not get.  No matter how big or how small, those gifts cannot compare to God’s gift to humanity.  The gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ is the greatest gift of all.  “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” Mark 8:36 As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we encourage you to take a few minutes to contemplate what this means for us.  The Creator of the Universe desires a relationship with each and every one of us.  He proved his love for us despite our sinful condition by sending Jesus Christ to be the perfect sacrifice for sin in our place.  God, in essence, sacrificed a part of himself because he loved us so much. May God’s blessings be upon you this Christmas,…
